Cultural Resource Management
CAS offers a full range of Cultural Resources Management services to assist in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the Antiquities Code of Texas, and other federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Our field crews are capable of completing a range of field methodology requirements in a timely manner and are familiar with the guidelines for archaeological survey set forth by the Council of Texas Archaeologists (CTA) and adopted by the Texas Historical Commission (THC). Our field directors are able to obtain permits from the THC for survey, testing, and mitigation on non-federal public lands in Texas and meet the Secretary of Interior’s standards for archaeology. Our relationship with the Center for Public History on the Texas State University campus allows us to extend our services to include National Register of Historic Places nominations and standing structure reviews. Our association with faculty and researchers in the Department of Anthropology enhances CAS’s field and laboratory services with access to a unique group of experts in Texas prehistory and history. Additionally, CAS’s curation program provides a valuable suite of curation and public outreach services.
