Erin Hamilton is a Project Archaeologist at the Center for Archaeological Studies at Texas State University-San Marcos. She has a B.A. in History and a M.A. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Arizona. Erin has over 15 years of archaeological experience in both the academic and private sectors with experience in Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and overseas in Italy. She participated in and supervised archaeological investigations with the University of Arizona at a Roman bath complex in Chianciano Terme, Italy while earning her M.A. Prior to working at CAS, she was employed in a corporate archaeological setting for more than 14 years, holding both field and archaeological lab positions and culminating in the role of Archaeological Laboratory Manager. She currently serves as Principal Investigator for CAS’s annual permit issued by the THC authorizing CAS to conduct archaeological investigations on property owned by Texas State University. Additionally, Erin provides students the opportunity to gain archaeological field and lab experience by including them in local and campus investigations. Erin’s background includes laboratory management, archival research, Tribal coordination, GIS, directing field investigations, burial exhumation, curation, collections management, and preparing cultural resource reports. She also has supervised and trained research staff to ensure compliance with various agency/client standards and methods and liaised with state/federal/private clients to facilitate the completion and delivery of contracted projects. Erin is excited to be a part of the CAS team where she can assist and prepare students for their future archaeological endeavors when they leave Texas State University.
